Effects of 3D Roughness Parameters of Sandblasted Surface on Bond Strength of HVOF Sprayed WC-12Co Coatings

This work aims to reveal the effects of 3D roughness parameters sandblasted surfaces on bond strength between thermal spray coatings and substrates. The investigation was carried out surface AISI 4140, which were pretreated with automatic-sandblasting system. topography analyzed by a optical profiler. WC-12Co measured using pull-off test method. Scanning electron microscope revealed that morphology after sandblasting rough. Furthermore, characterized several irregular peaks pits different directions no fixed orientation randomly distributed surface. average values for Sa = 4.84 ± 0.34 μm 32.8 2.8 MPa obtained. In terms parameters, Sa, Sdr, Sdq Sq found have more significant impact affecting strength, showing nonlinear regression relationship. positively correlated Sdr Sdq, while inversely proportional Sq. confirmed greater not conducive improvement strength. influence mechanism each parameter discussed, consistent mathematical model.
